I was just about to order the Eheim 2028 to run with my wet/dry filter on my 120g. The filter pumps a flow rate of 275gph. I was comparing other filters in same price range, and found the Marineland C-530 for same price. Its reletively the same design as the 2028, but has a pump output of 530gph.

I see the 2028 seems to be the winner over the Marineland c-360, but aslo cost $100 more, and rated for tanks 60g larger. Just wondering how it compared its big brother, the 530, and which one u would pick?

Have any of you tried these filters, or heard any boast about either of them?

I had two different ehiems leak, they were of the same series as the 2028, just one size smaller.

Personally for comarsion to the 2028 it would be hard to beat a rena xp3 for a $110.

Ive looked at the Xp3, but didn't like the way you prime them. Other than that, they seems nice. Think I would a priming mechanism on it though.

I have a C-530 on my 120 gallon and it works great. I don't use carbon so I took it out and added more rings. The thing is a monster.

how long have you had it? the longevity of marineland products seems subpar in my experience.

Seeing I have 2 400's that lasted 14 years and still going I bought this.
Quiet as heck and had it for... 2 years I think. Never had to buy a thing for it either besides a pack of the polishing pads and mech pads. Still have the mech pads in the box cause I just rinse them out once a month and I don't really need the polishing pads.

I agree, it's pretty hard to pour a cup of water into a funnel.:D At least if I remember correctly, it's been a long while since I had to prime any of the 6 I have running.

EHEIM ftw.
