Opinions on my 55G stock

It might be good if you dropped the salvini and got a less aggressive cichluid in it's place. you should also try to get a female convict.

A less aggressive cichlid? A pair of cons will cause more disruption than a lone salvini.

To the OP, IMO you are okay for the time being. You have 3 of the smaller american cichlids so you shouldn't face the fish becoming too large for the tank. It ultimately comes down to aggression. If it were me i would lose the RTBS and continue with that stock.

He is not getting a pair of cons. 1 Female con is a lot less aggressive than a pair of cons. a salvini is more aggressive than a female con.

Standard 55G: 8 x Tiger Barb (dithers), 1 x Red Tail Black Shark, 1 x Convict (4" male), 1 x Salvini (2" female), 1 x Firemouth (2" m/f?). Filtration: 2 x AC70's, 1 x Marineland Penguin 200. 1 x weekly water change of 40-50%.

In his current stock, he has a male Convict. And by introducing a female, he will more than likely end up with a pair. Causing total disruption. Sticking with the Sal is the best way IMO.

Oh he already had a male. he should get rid of the male and get a femle. I did not now that he already had a male.

There would be no purpose in replacing the male with a female and getting rid of the sal. A good male is equally as colourful as a female.

The OP should just keep the current stock and see how it goes. Sals aren't hugely aggressive until breeding (similarly to cons). However, it comes down to individual fish ultimately.

I don't know where all the bad responses are coming from, but in my opinion your stock is perfectly fine. Good luck to you!
