WATER CHANGE DONE!!! As far as being more advanced... I consider myself a beginner still as far as skill and technique. As far as the research part goes and making sure that they have what they need. I don't feel I"m a beginner in this aspect. I do TONS of research before I get anything to make sure I know what I'm getting myself into.
So I can keep a Violet Goby with a Figure 8 or two? If so that's what I'm getting. The Goby was why I wanted a brackish set up.
I even keep a chart! cuz I have so many tanks. I got tired of going... now was it that one or that one that had Nitrates above ten... So I put a chart on my computer that I update at least weekly. States the readings in all my tanks. I'm sort of OCD in that matter.
To think it started with a Betta in a one gallon bowl.... (He didn't stay in there more than 36 hours until he had a ten gallon set up with a heater and filter.) It's the only time I can say that I bought without researching. I was like... I want a fish... I'll get a Betta that will sit pretty on my desk. Now I have 5 Betta's. Two males one half moon Geno and one half moon in ten gallons of their own. 3 female Betta's in Their own 10 gallon (They surprisingly won't accept new members and they all get along...)
I digress. So the plan is to get my Goby back and 2 Figure 8 puffers? Sound good?
One thing that puzzles me is people that have "hospital tank" that have no cycle... I was like...well I"ll keep a fish in there but then I was like... that's intoducing a fish that I couldn't move when I needed too and what if they get sick afterward. The Pure ammonia was my next step. I put enough in there to spike it to 2-3PPM (tested30-40 mins after adding) that cycles out in less than 24 hours. So it's got a heavy bacteria bed. So that when I add a fish I know it's matured and cycled. Giving a good environment that I usually don't even have to medicate (don't run carbon either just sponges and Boi-"stuff") because they usually heal up nicely. Then when I take the fish out if there's any bad bacteria that needs fish to live... it dies off because there won't be any fish in there... I question everything. So I come up with elaborate and usually unnecessary measures.
