ordering 180G filtration

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
FX5 for the win...

You can get 2 new 5's for the price of 1 2262.

Don't get me wrong, they are both great filters and both heavily endorsed on this site but dollar for dollar I'd have to vote for the FX5.

I run 2 of them on my large tank and have no complaints. Setup is easy and they even included a setup dvd as mentioned above.

Just incase your worried about setup, here's a vid to show you how ridiculously simple they are to setup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdjv_6mPhtM&feature=youtube_gdata_player

I am surprised F1Vet didn't run with the Pothos comment. ;)

Oh yeah! If you want to drop your n03 then yes buy some golden ivy throw the roots in your tank and watch that baby grow!

Spoilers old school so I thought she already knew about POTHOS!

+1 on the pothos, I figured F1 would run with it, LOL! I wonder how much pothos good I can get outta those 2 slots on the back of tank? That's the only place to put them. It'd be nice if the roots spread way down & across the inside back.
The tank has a huge canopy, but my 75G has one and I leave it off. can't stand the darkness around top & not seeing the surface. something important could be going on up there. LOL! my husband bought me the setup last Christmas & at first I put the canopy on. started leaving it off more & more to fiddle around inside. he kept offering to help me lift it back up on there "don't you think it makes the whole tank look better?" :-/ so I put some wood sticks along the edges to make it set up higher, trying to "like" it on there. he even mentioned getting brighter lights for tank but fish won't like that.
Canopy is in a back room. so maybe a big wad of pothos will make up for this canopy being out in the garage. LOL.

I'll watch the fx5 vid when I get back home later today.

THANKS everyone!

Buy a 2262 for bio and an fx5 for mechanical and call it a day.

Thanks to EVERYone for input!
I have a feeling this is what I should do. but wow, all the media sure adds to COST :-/

BTW, anybody have more input on what media helps Eheim for mech polishing, without slowing down flow?

For bio API chem stars are my fav, they never degrade, last forever and allow a lot of flow thru them, they do not pack dense like smaller media like matrix.
