Ordering Delhezis today!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm doing a little water change right now. How much lower should I keep the water level for the polys? I usually fill to the lids but these guys need space to come to the top and breathe.

This forum ROCKS. And the poly subforum is very active.

I'd leave at least a couple of inches. Occasionally my Del will cruise to the surface really quickly and definitely comes out of the water.

Also - be sure to secure your lid! As in zero open holes for potential escape. I have a glass lid but holes cut out for heater, filter input/output and I have it fully duct taped around the back. Others use egg crate or plastic netting stuff.

Do this before they come for sure.

I have glass lids with the clear plastic insert you put at the back. I've cut holes for the canister input/output so I think I'm sealed up pretty good. I'll take extra precautions.

+1 with the opening on top, and make sure the lid is kinda heavy, polys are powerfull jumpers.

Well, I'm out of here for the day. I'll be back in the morning at 8 a.m. Fish come at 10 a.m. Just did a water change and left about 2.5 inches from the top so I should be good. Might take more out. This is my view 9 hours a day :D who's jelly? You guys have a great night!

I usually drain out most of the water (fin level. I leave enough to wjere the biggedt fish fons are just below the surface. Leave a couple of inches from water surface to lids when refilling.
I duct tape lids and cover opennings with plexiglass and duct tape them as well.

Mfk does rock!

Mine are the glass lids that come with the tanks. They're pretty heavy but I think I'm going to duck tape around the inputs/outputs and put something really heavy on the glass lids. Quick story before I have to hurry out the door. Jeff Rapps sent me two jags for this tank and the next day they were found on the floor ... I didn't have the plastic inserts on the ends of the glass lids. I ordered two more from him! So here is my 2nd pair.

Yes, duct tape around any holes. People have posted horror stories on here even re: very small holes and some of your polys will be small. Better safe than sad. ;)

I am SO JEALOUS that you get a tank at work period, let alone one that big.

I put in a 3 gallon betta tank at my clinic. Hahaha....
