ive had 9 fish shipped over 5 different occasions and each time there has been no problem at all. fish arrived happy and healthy. 2 things though... I ordered from what I knew to be reputable sources and england is a lot smaller than USA so not as far to travel potentially. my delhezi was eating pellets the following day. the 4 tigerfish didnt eat for a few days but then ate bloodworm. ask around on here for good online places in US/ near louisiana that can be trusted. is $50 a lot? honestly, in my opinion, it depends. obviously its more than I paid for mine. there is a 3-4 incher in my lfs now for 35. so compared to that its expensive. but, without prying, can you afford $50? if it were me and there was something I really wanted but could only get by paying a bit extra, then id get it. providing of course it wasnt going tobkeep food off the table or whatever. im impatient too, so I know how you feel!

thanks so much for the input. yeah i found pet solutions which has them for 50$ and then 20$ to ship so 70$ total. thats alot for a fish but i could swing it i suppose. just dont wanna over pay too much. but u only live once right so i will probably end up getting one. and i guess as hardy as bichirs are and how they live in swamps and marshes anyway i guess a little flight in a bag wont hurt. how fast did yours grow?
Mine grew quick, well I think so anyway. Ive had him for somewhere in the region of 6-8 months, i cant actually remember when i got him, but thereabouts. around 4 inches when i got him and now at least 12 inch. I had to change from pond tubing (just under 2 inch diameter) to drain pipe because it was starting to get a tight squeeze. I was lucky that he took to pellets right away and has been on massivore/sinking carnivore from very early on so he has grown like a weed. Regarding fish delivery, i dont know how it is for you. but here in england the reputable, reliable online sources offer a live arrival guarantee. that way if the worst happens you are not oiut of pocket (other than the cost of sneding the dead fish back)
You should be good then. I was nervous the first time, but it has opened a whole new set of possibilities for me. What pellets do you feed at the moment?
theyre aqueon shrimp pellets. and they get earthworms, blood worms, tubifex somethimes, and i have fed cut fresh fish but only once. oh and i have fed tree frogs that i caught outside about 3 times.
