Nope, they usually hang out together.

i would just want other bichirs as tank mates for them and some middle to top dwelling fish.

I have raised my ornate in a 120 Malawi cichlid tank. I purchased it at 3 inch's and now it is now 7 inch's. I have not witnessed any aggression from the cichlids but the ornate as occasionally snapped up a baby cichlid since the readably breed in my tank.'I also had a senegal with Malawi with no problems either. as long as the other fish are bigger then there mouth and stay out of there way every thing usually works out fine......usually.
