Ornate bichir with Armatus?

I would not add any bichirs smaller than 18" to an adult size armatus. Since it's only 6" right now it should be fine but armatus grows so much faster than any bichirs. I got 2x 15-18" armatus and they already eaten some 10" fat palmas polli and beauttikoferri. As well as a 12" silver arowana. Best to keep armatus with other more robust species.
 
I talked to my lfs yesterday, they said they can order most species of bichir, only problem is they will probably be around the 6" mark. I really like the Delhezi, senegals, endi, and I guess ornate would be my last pick.

Really any of those 4 would work fine, I just prefer the colour and pattern of the first two. Worst case scenario I put a divider in for a bit, or put him in the wifes tank and let him fatten up on her fish hahaha. Today is a holiday in Canada though (thanksgiving ) so I will have to make a trip to the lfs tomorrow.
 
I'm going to my lfs later to bpick up my Delhezi bichir, around 4inches. I'm going to put him in one of those containers with the plastic mesh lids on top with a piece of small pvc in it. Just till he gets big enough so my armatus won't snack on him.

lol My armatus is 6 inches and all of my bichirs are less than 5 inches.....
 
where are you getting ur bichirs? what store? Missisuagia big als has a bunch of adult delhezis for sale for 34.99. That was a while back though....
 
Went to newmarket big als. Got mine for $30 insted of $40 lol. I do not have a quarenteen tank anymore, so he had to go in with the armatus. I have a carry container ready for the delhezi to go into (inside the aquarium) if my armatus picks on him. Already took one nip at him so ill watch closely before I go to bed. I will probably put him in the container overnight to be sure.

Colours great, has green pigment to him and about 5". My moonlight is about to turn on, so I will have to get pics tomorrow.

Will post pics tomorrow, hes alot more active now and lets me photograph him. But need some better shots to post up.
