Why is it bad to feed them that? I feed my Oscars and Senegal fish and beefheart and bloodworms. Usually don't feed them much else. Where and what should I feed them? Just buy tilapia at walmart and cut it up?
You can feed it to them just not every day give them a varied diet. Feed it to them like once a week. I feed mine tilapia, catfish, buffalo fish, perch, herring, salmon (not too much tho it's an oily fish), crawfish, shrimp, muscles, clams, oysters, frozen crab. Live food I do dwarf frogs, sometimes rosy reds, shiner minnows, red worms, night crawlers, crawfish (break off the claws), shad and crickets. You can find mostly all I said at walmart or a fresh fish market

I feed my ornate raw shrimp , it loves nightcrawlers and Also it will only eat xtreme Monster Pellets with a few drops of garlic guard on them ... im not really sure why the garlic guard but ... the ornate loves it . Not to mention xtreme cat scrapers..

Hikari sinking carnivore pellets, krill (you will have to break the krill up into 3 pieces until bichir is larger) and red wiggler worms (change to earthworms when he gets larger).

Feed him twice a day at that size and once a day when it gets larger around the 12" mark.

I love my ornate, they are probably my favorite polys. Mine out and about all the time but doesnt really hang out with the others. I feed him nls, omega one and fro

Mine is my only poly that hides practically 24/7 and then he never eats, it's like he only eats when necessary, he's been 8 inches since I've got him in February this year. But I read that this happens sometimes so I won't give up on him.

I guess its hit or miss on each fishes personality. Hope he comes around soon. Ive was told by other members that their mokes are always out and others say they are hiders. I never see mine all i see is his tail

Yea it's frustrating. My lap is similar, except he doesn't hide and he grew atleast an inch, but he eats very little as well, my others are greedy however.
