wow, some very simular happened to me. my female 5in texas decided that she like a cory and tried to eat one. at the last moment she tried to spit it out and the ventral fin spikes got lodge in her mouth. the cory died whilei was trying to extract it out of her mouth!! the taxas gave no resistance wheni grabbed her to take the cory out.

I dunno how they can fit it in their mouth... and why they go after it.. and not smaller cichild..

Swallowing a fish head first is a lot different to trying to swallow a well armoured catfish with lockable dorsal and pelvic spines. Hopefully he eventually relaxes his mouth and it's not held open as a result of permanent injury or something wedged in there.

he should be fine. the pleco is just still in his throat, and not yet to his belly. should be a matter of hours and he will look fine in the face but have a distended belly. i think you should be feeding that mini monster a little more. a pleco would probably be a last resort for a hungry fish.

I doubt it's wedged in his throat, it probably just got its jaw locked open from being opened so far. If so it should be fine, and should go back over time. You said your not sure if it ate it or not, is the dead pleco in the tank?
