So I just got home and found my albino oscar had my 4" royal pleco in his mouth. I was not able to pull the pleco out. I am tempted to chop his head off and slice him open to see if the pleco is still alive. I however did not do this. Will he be able to digest the pleco or will it end up killing him anyway? I am under the impression that the oscar will not be able to digest it and will die anyway hence the reason i am tempted to do surgery. I cant believe he got it in his mouth its only an 8" oscar. He eats 10 massivore pellets a day i cant believe he was even hungry.

If the cheek/peck fin spines don't puncture anything he will likely be fine. keep the lights low and let him relax, so he doesn't get spook, thrash and impale himself. My Gulper Catfish 8" At my 8" Pearsei in one bite.. It didn't phase him even the slightest. I don't know about Oscars, a gulper can digest so massive meals, I hope you fish can too.

Yeah i just went down and found him dead on the bottom of the pool. It killed him, guess i should have chopped him up last night and tried to save the pleco. Its still in his mouth. Ill post pics in a bit, just woke up dont feel like messing with it just yet.

I tried to cut his mouth open to get the pleco out but my knife wasnt sharp enough. Ill take some roofing shears to him after breakfast and see what the pleco looks like.

Oh i totally agree. If i had a fillet knife i would have done surgery last night. It hasnt lost its color so i kind of feel like maybe he isnt dead but not sure that means anything. He isnt moving so im sure he's done too. Ill bust out the roofing sheers shortly and see for sure. Just eating breakfast first. lol

Well here is the result after surgery

He is partially digested on his nose as you can see... Wish i had thought of the roofing sheers last night...
