My oscar hasn't been eating and just freaks out some times. He has injured himself a few times by hitting th glass lid. He even knocked out a silver dollar from the tank :WHOA:It was pretty crazy. I have been checking the water params, and keeping lighting low. Any suggestions on why this is happening? I've had him for 6 years and never had these problems.

What are the water params? When was you last water change?

My Oscar i had a few years back loved doing this at 3am and scaring the hell out of me. Used to swim around and crash into stuff. Sometimes cutting him pretty bad. Not quite sure why he did this but he ended up getting sick a few months later and a LFS took him off my hands.

The water params are actally pretty good, and I guess him not eating may have a lot to do with it. I also have a rena xp3 filter. After a week and before a water change:

Amonia-0
Nitrite-0
Nitrate-10

My first thought was the water params, because I know that could cause fish to be skittish. No of the fish are breathing heavily and swimming upright. Could my oscar have an infection or parrasite?

Is his poo white and stringy?

Well haven't seen any poo since he hasn't been eating. That would be a bacterial infection? Should I try using aquarium salt incase it is a parasite?

sometimes oscars just have tantrums, kind of like kids. how long has it been since he ate and what do you mainly feed him? how big is he and what size tank is he in? what are the other fish other than SDs?

if none of the other fish are acting weird it is likely just a behavioral thing with the oscar. maybe hes upset if you added some new fish recently, or if hes not getting as varied a diet as he would like. sometimes they just act out.
