i have a tiger O in a 75 and its boring with just him...he killed his room mate (green texas) any fish i can put in with my O that he wont kill and wont kill him...also does the new fish need to be about the same size... thanks for the help.

The fish should be of similar size.

If your Oscar already killed another fish and it wasnt predatory in nature. Meaning he killed it and didnt try eating it. Then i'm going to tell you right now that your Oscar is terriotrial and in a 75 gallon, you'll have a hard time finding any fish he will share his territory with.

You could try a few Silver Dollars. He might be ok with them. They'll add a little life to the tank. But since they arent cichlids, he might not find them as intruders as much as he would a Texas or JD or another Oscar.

I agree that if you have a territorial fish, he probably won't tolerate many tank mates. I agree to try some dither fish.

you could try removing the oscar from the tank and moving any decorations around in the tank. then place the silver dollars in tank. let them get some what comfortable and then add the oscar back.

Bloody good posting mate! ;)

Good luck buddy, sounds like he's claimed the tank!

lol. yeah it does sound like he claimed the tank. I have my oscar with a jd (although I wouldnt suggest it) and other fish. I would suggest getting some tinfoil barbs. they can get to be a decent size.
I can say that I would not by any means trying to add another oscar. I been there done that and it was not pretty.

Suggest getting TFB's? For a 75gal? Crazy!:nilly:
TFB's regularly attain 12"+(SL)(16"max), are schooling fish (5+), require alot of room for their swimming style (fast and oft erratic) and being heavy bodied fish have a large bio-load.
Not by any means recommendable for a 75gal, bad advise.

I too would suggest a few dither/target fish, or perhaps a Pleco/Cat.
Some do OK with a smaller tankmate, e.g. Sev, FM, Con and etc.

O's aren't schooling/shoaling fish, there is no real need for a tankmate, he will not experience loneliness.
Likely to be much happier by himself in that 75gal.
I like to recommend a 75gal as the minimum for one O with the possibility of 'a' tankmate.

my bad.... must have missed where they said it was a 75 g. well then in that case.......I dont know what I would put in with him. sorry for the misunderstanding.;)

You dont have to be so harsh. A simple "I dont recommend that" Then explaining why would have worked.

But anyways..

I recommend maybe a firemouth or 2. Silver dollars are really cool. I have 3 in my 150 swim in a school back and forth looks cool when the lights reflect off them.
