Oscar Question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
they both grew to great jags. but male was very much a wife beater.

the female jag on the right is one you saw in the oscar tank. with the Male on the left, male about 16" at the time Female 14" in the 145. If you like tool, turn it up.

What do you guys think would be the best staple pellet besides the floating carnsticks? Hikari Cichlid Gold, NLS, bug bites?

Thank you, do you think personality would differ from having 1 or 2? I want it to have that “oscar personality” and of having multiple takes away from that I may go with just 1.
They each have their own personalities and quirks. The icecream bucket O (named Lazarus) is a mean A-hole and he is difficult to pair with other fish. Toni is a gentle giant for the most part and I suspect would get along with anyone willing to not pick a fight. I have some younger Os paired together and they get on fine but each has very distinct personalities and are very interactive with people outside the tank.

I have enjoyed getting to know them all. They are drama queens, bullies, puppies, and high maintence girlfriends lol.

Ahhh I can’t decide if I want one or two I think I may go with just one and go from there. I am also going to order the small to medium sized bug bites to start him on.

Sounds good. My young Os are doing really well on Bug Bites as a staple. I will post pics of them for you when I get home in the morning.

The bebes. The darker fish is 4in the lemon was 4.5 when last measured but i think has grown a bit more. I feed bug bites 2x a day and then they get a variety food for the 3rd feeding. I've had the lemon a few weeks longer and he came from a better source than the darker oscar. I also do a daily 50% water change for them.

LOL @ "Icecream Bucket O"

Gorgeous Oscars all around for sure. And Toni is simply stunning, her colors are so clean. I like the earlier pic where she was 'fin resting' on the slab.

Oh wow really? Every albino i’ve seen has like no orange and has this “dirty” and tattered look to them. Most have the blackish fins and bodies which I’m not really a fan of. I like the nice clean white that you’re has.

It depends on the black. I saw a lutino with black fins. Stunning and amazing contrast. Some do look 'dusty' but it can be nice if the body colors are clear.
