Could try moonlights. It's something I'm thinking about when the flying disks get bigger.

I do not fully understand this thought.

Aside from that, somehow I missed the 20 comments worth of drama before my last post but I wish to acknowledge it now. Thanks, guys! That made one of my other points..... sometimes it isn't the meds that fix things, sometimes it really is as simple as clean water...

Clean water is the number one preventative there is. When that's not enough knowing what, when and how to use the correct med in the right situation can be the difference between life and death or doing more harm than good. The issue then becomes, very few people know what to use and when to use it.

So the point of this thread as I see it is, your fish scrapped itself on a piece of decor and it went away in a week by itself.

My apologies for the drama. last thing I want from my posts is folks having to wade through crap to get to the answer they are needing.

I still do not fully subscribe to the decor theory, and I lean more towards blaming the pleco. Who knows, oscars do stupid things. This one jumped in his overflow box once.... lost the tip of a pelvic fin and a 1" ring of scales to the syphon tube...

The first thing I thought when I saw the initial pic was that he got nipped at by someone, especially given the location of the injury. Glad that your accident prone Oscar has recovered. :-)

haha, thanks... I haven't seen any other signs of pleco-kisses, but I am still leaning towards that as the cause.
