True. So skip the 75 and start with a 300.

In a 55, maybe a year.

i might have one for a yeah then give it to my friend with a 250
Your friend's 250 must be pretty overstocked unless he just hasn't bought any fish for himself and uses all your hand-me-downs to stock it... You know there are actually quite a few possibilities for interesting fish that would work for a 55 gallon, but it seems that you're only interested in fish that you can't/shouldn't have...

that how it works with me. i want anything big scary and eats fish. i havent been able to find the right fish yet. im thinking about a mosaic gar but dont know if its perfect

Try butis butis. Aka crazy fish, bony-snouted gudgeon, crocodile fish. Gets about 7" and fat, eats live food by ambush tactics. He'll act like a stick until a fish swims by. Then in a flash he'll have it eaten. They are also known to play dead and float on the top of the tank like a leaf. Probably an ambush tactic as well.

Just to give you an idea, These two Oscars are 1 year old, just beginning to mock spawn. Its hard to see but they are 10.5 inches long .. very playful.. i feed them by hand... As for the 55... if you really really over filter it.. you can use it for awhile.. i have these two in a 55.. but i must stress the over filtering of it.. this one is connected to a Diy bio, mechanical, chemical tower style filter and a 30 gallon sump. so the actual volume of water is 80 gallon.. but the tank is a 55.
