Well, I'm moving in a couple months, decided to do some planning. The girlfriend has finally agreed to a massive tank (thought it would never happen lol). Anyway, my question is how many different legitimate Oscars are there? I'm having trouble differentiating some of the "super red" for example. I do not want any dyed, unnatural fish. My idea is to have one of each different Oscar tank size will depend on how many there actually is, and I know some might be out of the question, like true Albino's, unless I can find one somewhere.

They're are tiger, lutino, Red oscars, Albino, lemon,Super red,and long finned oscars (veiltail)

Some are mix of them as well.

My favorite are the veiltail saw some beautful ones yesterday!

I seen some nice veil tail the other day. I've never owned one always too worried about them getting nipped up.

I was reading on astronotus crassipinnis pretty interesting but apparently quite rare in aquariums.
Really rare, as ive looked for a while and cannot find them. It would be cool to have a group of "mini Os" swimming around... They cap out at like 8-9" so you could fit almost double the amount of them that normal Oscars.

If you know where to order some tell me plz lol.

You'll need a pretty huge tank but it could be fun and interactive to have that many. Don't forget they are messy eaters so nitrates may be difficult to control.

Nice to see someone planning to properly house and care for Oscars. Unfortunately that is not normally the case they are all great fish tiger being my favorite variant. Whatever you choose will likely be the lucky ones on the tank as most are probably destined to live out there days in a 30 gallon.

When I was like 8-9 years old, my uncles girlfriend at the time had a 29 gallon tank with 2 Oscars. I loved them, at the same time I always felt bad for them. I always been attached to them since. I have 3 at the moment the largest is 4 inches growing out in a 120. That is my goal to have a massive tank with as many different Oscar variants I can.

Anyway sorry for rambling. Lol
