I might be selling my 55 gallon set up and buying a 75 gallon set up from a friend, I have not set up the 55 yet because I have such a hard time deciding what fish to get but I think I want an oscar and a few large tankmates. I am still open to suggestions on what fish to keep in the new 75 so any suggestions would be nice, but if I get an oscar what are some good large tankmates that are fairly active?

Silver dollars...3 or 4 of them. Thats it for bio load. Oscars make a mess, and a 75 isn't a load of water to dilute the waste.

Red hooks and tinfoils get too big for a 75, since they should be in a school.

you can keep them in pairs or single fish. they dont "need" to be in schools. and as SD dont generally grow over 6-8" in an aquarium, theyre fine in a 75. TFB can outgrow the tank, simply because they need room to swim, but that will take a long time, and when that time comes around, you can trade them to a LFS here fore smaller ones. if you havnt already upgraded your tank by that time

8 inches isn't that rare. Silver dollars and other schooling fish can get rather stressed out if kept alone. They are not wet pets, they are schooling fish , and a school of them needs more than 75 gallons. ;)

again, the word "need" is objective. and they do no "need" to be in a large school

I don't "need" to drink water every day.

The point is, red hooks are suitable for a 75g. They get too big!

I think an adult bristlenose pleco would be great. Or a medium sized pleco species (be ready for poop though).
