All 3 turq severums that I have owned have all been at or over 8 inches in there first year. Gold, red's, and some of the others seem to grow much slower though.

Yeah I have rokteils. There's no way their even going to over 6 inches within a year. They get fed twice a day and temps at 80 with 50% water changes, so it's not me. Their just slow, lol.:D

I just looked at the "turquoise severums" at petsmart today, I really dont think they are severums, they look like striped blood parrots. How fast will the convict or firemouth grow?

Ok, so 1 oscar, 1 turquoise severum, and 3 pictus all at the same time. The tank I'm buying is coming with a big canister filter and I'm gonna see what plants I can get the oscar and severum not to destroy so filtration wont be a problem. Now all I have to do is wait a month or two to get the tank and cycle it, thanks guys.

A 75 is bare min for a full grown oscar by itself.They really need a 125

i have a 3 inch oscar and 2 spotted pims in a 20 gallon, i really wish he would stay this size simply because he eats a bunch of stuff but he's still smaller than anything else in the tank. i know tanks too small but i figure i can get a bigger tank over the summer.

For a fully developed Oscar..
whats the minimum tank foot print?
whats the ideal foot print?

Minimum I've seen 55 most of the time as long as filtration is provided.
Some people say that a regular 55 is bad because the width is only 12" and doesn't have enough turning space for a full grown oscar :screwy:

Ideal footprint...:confused:

lol do u know what a foot print is? 55 gallon is not a foot print.

an example of a foot print is: the length X the width X height

48''X24''X24'' = 120 Gallons ,etc

ideal footprint = what most people would recommend

In my opinion the ideal footprint for a single Oscar, with nothing else, would be 48 x 18 x 20, or a standard 75 gallon tank.
