oscar tankmates?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It helps if they grow up with other fish in the tank, I've also heard feeding them feeder fish makes them more aggressive.

Silver dollars are a good choice, clown loaches are another. It just depends on your oscars. You can never tell with them until you try but the smaller they are the better chance you have at them getting along with tank mates but at any given time they could turn.

i aggree, 2 times.:D
I had all my tankmates, except the plecos in the tank as babies.
6 baby silver dollars, a small sunfish, a baby oscar and later a baby Florida Gar.
And there has never been any aggression.

and imo skipping live fish as food, will make your oscar more docile.

i would have to say go with a silver arowana. they are kept with oscars all the time and seem to get along well.

I have a mix of a pacu, cons, cat, plec, fancy goldy's and a W in baby red devil hybrid and my oscar lovess his company

by the way my friend has asked me if i wanted a ID shark? is that compatible with my small oscar fish? thx :]

Forgive my ignorance, but how big do ID sharks get? Are they one of the monsters that get 4'+? If u r sure to get a bigger tank, you could try asmall school of silverdollars. Sounds boring, but when well fed they are really good looking fish. Maybe some Vieja sp. cichlids.
