JD's will destroy Oscars.

It is 50/50,I have a JD that can easily destroy everything in my tank, besides the Oscar that he wont mess with.Every time the Oscar comes by,the JD backs away.

I agree, I have a pair of Oscars and a pair of JD's, the JD's are bigger than the Oscars but they still get along well together.

Only issue is,I can't have another Oscar in the tank or since I have 1 JD,I can't have another JD the same size in the tank.I can only do a mix of SA cichlids.

Yeah the Oscar is 6 1/2 to 7 inches and the Bloodparrot with him is 5 inches. I am thinking of getting a 3 inch Blackbelt. But I am making sure that they are not super aggressive first.

red tailed tinfoil barbs

I lost a RTTB to an Oscar bit his head clean off, be sure its the same size or larger

be careful with the jd though. i had one that was half my oscars size but was still tearing my oscars fins to shreds

My JD surprisingly enough is kind to all his tank mates including the O so like its been said many times before depends on the fish.

convicts, texas

My Texas Is always trying to kick my O's Fin Some times he wins sometimes the O wins, neither have hurt each other yet, but I am still considering moving the Tex to his own 55. My friend has several Red Texas's and only one for the 3 can have any tank mates the other two kill all other fish placed in the tank.

Yeah I just went out and bought a 5 inch senegal bichir. I am looking for a delhezi but I am not finding one around here right now.

maybe a pair of bala sharks? but i do know you can do something like silver dollars, tinfoil barbs, bichirs, maybe a nice green terror but definitely not a pacu

A Bala Shark could easily work for you.I mean you have quite a bit of options, even a Chocolate Cichlid would do or even a Polleni would be nice, since they have almost the same personality of a Oscar.

I have 4 Bala's with mine, had 2 for the longest, every now and then he will flex at them but has never attacked them. he is about 9.5" and they are like 8", I just got a polleni she is hanging out but is only 4.5" .
