Oscar vs Jaguar

Ya'll smoking crack...I have Jags and Oscars, Oscars rule the world.:headbang2 To answer your question, Yes Oscars are trainable my Albino jumps for snacks and my Red Tiger will roll over to pet his belly when hand feeding. Plus Oscars have a larger variety of tank mates than Jags, but Jags are still cool for tank dominators.

i would go with an oscar...if you want a much more fishy puppy...but if you want some aggressive but people responsive fishes go with the jaguar...it would be a glass banger if you get it alone and a male from some peoples standard point

You never did say what size tank you have (I don't think). I have an oscar and jag together, in a 220. In my experience, they are awesome together. If you have the space, I would get one of each.

you guys cant come to any conclusion till he states tank size... besides he seems like hes kinda new to fish imo asking how to setup tank and such. What if he were to get a jag and decided to add tank mate, and the tank is really small. Oscars are more forgiving with tankmates. You havent told us if you want a community or just one fish.

I disagree. I think Jags are more compatible with a greater number of the kind of fish I prefer to keep. Most of your big aggressive Central Americans are incompatible with an Oscar whereas a Jag makes the perfect tankmate. Oscars are also a much messier fish which will strain the bioload of the barely adequate filtration of your typical newby aquarist tank. How is that more forgiving on the other tankmates? I don't know either.

Therefore I say Parachromis Managuense is the only way to go.

:headbang2 Parachromis!! Accept no substitute!! :headbang2

Hey thanx for the input.. i have a 55 so looking to keep only one fish!
right now after reading all the nice things abt the jag i might get that!!

i keep a piranha too.. so i know something abt fish :-P LoL cos my tank right now is planted and i heard cichlids rip up the plants.. so am just going to put dark gravel cos i heard it brings out the color of the jags!
