So I have a oscar by itself in 75 gal...he still isn't that active and its been 2 weeks and some days since I've had him...he eats when I turn my pump off so he can grab floating pellets..before overflowboxes suck'em up...but he eats so slow still, anyways my jets that shoot the water out is crazy pressure...it blows sand everywhere....will this effect my oscar from being happy/swimming around? I can slow the pressure down if needed, by popping the jets open and taking these little pieces I put in to make it spray hard...

You could face the jets towards the glass so that it does not hit the bottom, only creating a nice flow in the tank. Ive never heard of an oscar eating slow, lol, mine sucks the floating pellets right in. Maybe he just needs to get used to the tank more.

I have them facing the top hitting glass, it moves the water aroundA LOT...he stays at one side..won't swim thru the middle of tank...ihes not active at all...I think he's still settling in..btw he's a wild oscar

Could it be he just isnt used to the water flow from the jets? Hows his coloring? Any other signs of stress besides reluctance in eating?

Coloring, he goes to very light....then very dark....all the time idk what that means?

Yeah they seem to do it based on mood more than anything. Do you have a valve on the powerhead to slow flowrate?

maybe make the jet face the long way of the tank, reducing the flow as it goes on. My oscar changes color after feeding, water changes or when the light first comes on, they do it alot. My fish, including my oscar seem to love the flow in my tank. Post some pictures of how you have your tank setup please.

I only have one oscar in my tank and 95% of the time he is in the area of the tank with the least amount of flow. My black belts, poly, and tex dont mind the flow, and the l200 never leaves it, but the oscar doesnt like it. While i had him in a grow out he also avoided the areas with more flow.

They are not a fish designed for fast moving waters at all, although like most hardy cichlids they can adapt.
