If the knife is as big as the oscar or bigger with a place to hide then it should be ok but i depends a lot on the individual fish!

yup the only way to be sure is to try it

keep in mind that you won't see your BGK much if he is stressed and afraid.. and then you will need to feed him in his cave.. because other wise they usually starve to death...

if this happens ill seperate them

Just make sure the knife is a lot bigger and there are enough pieces of wood and plants or whatever you like to put in the tank to allow the knife lots of places to get out of its way and to break up the line of sight of the oscar so it feels like it has its own teratory and cant allways see the knife as it will feel like the knife is all ways invading its teratory if it can see it constantly!

put the oscar in with the Blk, 2 silver dollars, and a pleco. Tank 29 gal

oscar is the nicest one in the tank so far, BLK keeps rubbing his face on the oscar the oscar just sits there or swims away.

BGK are active at night. Try to give it a PVC tube for it to rest(or hide) during the day.

i have a rock ledge thing that i made from 3 rocks that he sits under but my knife is active twenty four seven always looking for food

Blk tends to hide under his rock more often but I have seen no agression exept the little silver dollar took a vary tiny pice of the oscars fin

still doing good

I have two BGKs... one 10", the other 12"... Both were raised from 4" with Oscars, Dempseys and other Cichlids... Both still live with Oscars, Dempseys and other Cichlids...

The only aggression issues I've had with BGKs (giving or receiving) is when I have breeding Cichlids in the tank. My BGKs seem uncontrollably addicted to eating eggs/fry and savagely attack Cichlid nests fighting both parents to get to the eggs/fry. Initially I was shocked at the ability of my BGKs to fight both parents at once and still feast on eggs/fry.

Be careful who you listen to. Nothing is more valuable in this hobby than listening to someone with experience on a particular topic... and nothing is more worthless than listening to someones speculation without experience...

I do need to add that my experience with raising BGKs with Cichlids has taken place in adequate sized tanks that are not overstocked. I would not consider a 29 gal tank adequate for Oscars or BGKs.
