Oscar with HLLE. Saveable?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah. That's something I like about them.

Try not to cave into him wanting a feeder, it will take it longer to get him off of them. He will eat them with time, even try worms to get its mind off live foods. This is sad, I used to see this stuff all the time. Bigger tank, fresh clean water, high quality pellets is the best you can do for the fish. The disease will get better, but may always have effects from it, scars on the head or body.
Good Luck!

Try feeding crickets to get him feeding from the surface.

I had rescued a pair of Oscars that were hooked on feeders. They didn't seem to realize that food came from the top. So I fed nothing but crickets for a couple days. (this was after a 3 week hunger strike) Then I'd throw in a cricket.. then a pellet then another cricket and so on until I had them eating the pellets. Then I just weaned them off the crickets and onto 100% pellets.

I'll try with worms.

hows the oscar doing? I recently got a 2.5 inch GT from the LFS and he had first stages of whole in the head. I done the treatment already, and i changed his diet up and i do water changes every three days. He acts fine, but you can still see the small pin sized hole in the upper middle of his head. Let me know if have done anything new.

He seems quite lethargic but otherwise fine. He is very calm unlike my other oscars. He likes to attack the heater and filter intake though. And he has completely re-landscaped the gravel lol.
