il post some pics of my albino oscar when i get chance, there are some amazing examples of this great cichlid on this thread

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU THERE ARE SOME FINE CICHLIDS IN THIS THREAD.... I LOVE MY OSCARS I JUS HOPE THEY GET TO THE 13" :nilly:

i think HITH has more to do with diet than with water quality. oscars are pretty hearty fish if fed well. they have a wide variety of nutritional needs and many people feed a single pellet or single food source which leads to malnutrition. if you are feeding a pellet you need to look at the ingredients, while hikari foods are sold at most pet stores and are a popular choice they contain a lot of fillers. compare ingredients to those in a New Life Spectrum type food and you will see the difference. My oscar gets NLS pellets one night, freeze dried krill another, and live nightcrawlers another. I also give peas and several veggies in the mornings as well. IMO if you just want to give one food source the NLS pellets more than cover what you need.

between 10" and 11"

Wicked O's, i might go out and try NLS.

that 16'' oscar is a nice fish, bigger than mine by an inch,
and do you measure to tail wrist or finn tips?
I've always done tail wrist.

thanks, all you have to do is compare the ingredients of NLS with pretty much any other brand out there and you'll see the difference. Omega One foods are pretty good too if you can get your hands on that more easily.

here's one of my 10" leucitic tiger I recently had to rehome

Update: I let the O at the top of the picture go and got a Tiger Oscar instead, here is a new picture of the little guy at the bottom:

he seems to have grown well in the last few weeks.

Here he is chilling out with his new Tiger O buddy:

The Tiger's colours are just coming back because I moved them out to get rid of the Juwel internal filter and have just moved them back in.

I picked up a Fire Eel today so I dusted off the camera and took a few new shots of the guys in the quote up there!

I have only just noticed the white circle marks on the pictures, you can't see them with the naked eye. I think they are swimming too close to the filter intakes so I think i'll have to cover them up.

I seriously dont understand how ppl can hate 0's so much!! they r one of my favorite fish im growin 2 out ow! 1 keeps jumpin and hittin his head of the lid causin scuffs so imma lower the water lvl a lil. But i love mine! andcant wait till there full size!
