If you're having a house built etc for your birthday then money seems to be no problem, so buying a 300 gal+ tank will be no problem for you which will probably last those fish for a while.

yes it sounds sketchy a 17 year old getting a house build for him, but my parents finances are not what i came here to discuss....only fish Thank you. And if you must know its an 18th Birthday present.

So is that profile pic of yourself? Nice watch. Even nicer Veyron.

Good to hear ur getting a 200G growout tank before the 1000 G pond. Heck, if you have a Veyron you could own your own aquarium. Or just have a massive fish room in your new house with all exotic fish and pay someone else to do all the maintenance for you. That's what I'd do.

i will be paying someone to do the maintenance, cleaning an 1000G tank would be a lot of work. And i will be picking up a 300G tank soon, the reason i didn't in the first place is the people i get the fish from said they would all be fine in a 75. Good thing i have you guys the the forums who are educated in fish. Thanks for all the help PS: Yeah THQ the profile pic is me lol

where's the fun in paying someone else to do the work? I don't see a point in keeping animals if I'm not the one doing the work.

When YOU are the one doing the work, that also means YOU are the one learning, enjoying, growing as a person, getting the education and experience, building character, and eventually becoming someone else who can in turn help people just as these people help you here @ MFK. But most importantly, you are learning about the animal and BONDING with them. They rely on you for survival. Don't you want to get to know the lives you are responsible for?

Money can't buy any of that. You have to live it....it will be a part of you eventually and will become muscle memory in no time. Everything will just be reaction after routine. Routines become routine, that's why we keep doing them......that's what a routine is

^agree it's one of the best bits of the hobby, elbow deep in fish poo and water with a Rd chewing on your hands, when your fish spawn and grow you look at them and go that's because of me being a fishkeeper not a fish watcher
