I personally change 50-60% water every Wednesday&saturday in my 100 gallon tank with 2 peacock bass and a pike cichlid.

I thought that plants don't do good with oscars. ?

They don't usually. It is a bit of hit or miss. Some will accept plants (mine are ok with java fern) but most won't or will tear them apart.

Although reading the comment that this was responding to, there was a mention of pothos, which is a house plant and usually sits in a filter outside the tank, though some put them with the roots in. Oscars may or may nibble at those, but usually fine. It is the planted aquarium with Amazon or other large leafed plants that the oscars usually like to move and dine on.

I second pothos! Arrow plants works really well too, even better than pothos imo. It really does help. I have a 200g tank that is pretty heavily stocked, (though the fish aren't full grown yet), and I was away and couldn't do WCs, so it went longer between, and when I changed water after more than two weeks I checked the nitrates and they were still under 5ppm

They will grow if there is enough nitrates to support them. I have arrowheads and pothos growing out the back of two of my aquariums, helps keep the nitrates level down if you use enough of it. Here is a shot of my arrow heads growing in one of my AC110s on the back of one of my tanks. The shoots go up nearly two feet.

Here is one of my pothos growing directly in the tank water:
