Other Kinds of Fishes to Mix with Bichirs?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Rift tanks are African rift lake cichlids :)

Rift tanks are high flow right ? See your from ny. Where at ? I grew up in bk.
Rift Lakes means Malawi/Tanganyika/Victoria, although Victorians are not my thing. Some high flow, some not. I think you are thinking of ripple/stream/manifold tanks.
I was born in Brooklyn, but I live in Spring Valley.

I have ctenopoma with my polys and they seem to get along, a bit of an issue getting food passed the spotties - as I call them - to the polys but now the polys are getting bigger that's not such an issue.

I really want one but they are rarely imported here. No demand

I was looking at their price structure for feeder crayfish and noticed something lets see if you notice it

7 crayfish Price: $12.00 ea total $84
10 crayfish Price: $5.00 ea total $50
20 crayfish Price: $3.00 ea total $60
30 crayfish Price: $2.00 ea total $60
49 crayfish Price: $1.00 ea total $49
50 crayfish Price: $0.60 ea total $30

Lets go one further, lets buy HUGE chunks of land, build lakes, and then build a subterranean viewing area so we can watch the fish from all angles! A 3 acre panel of 6" acrylic cant be that expensive could it?

more like 6'

i want a predator tank, after I get through this rift lake phase I'm having. I want a ctenapoma, and bichirs are a good tankmate.... but right now all I really want is rift lake stuff and rainbowfish.

once you end up with 1 bichir they eventually become your focus

I heard that Hujeta gar is not that aggressive even though they are predators. Are they also fast-swimming? I guess I need to find some floating plants if I'll include them in the tank.

floating plants would help keep them calm. they are extremely fast when they are spooked but most of the ones ive dealt with liked to kind of hover in the top portion of the tank and watch everything. they arent very aggressive and get spooked fairly easily but are a wicked cool fish

I have two hujeta with my UJ polys, no aggression with them at all, sometimes its the polys who try bothers them but its just like move out of my way thing, nothing serious.
