My bike had over heated, it was spewing antifreeze fumes into the air. I stopped to let it cool down, my husband was on his bike behind me, he took the pictures. You can see the tinted edge of his windshield at the bottom of many of the pics.

When I stopped she popped out of the woods sniffing the air with enthusiasm. She was about 80 yards up the road when I first saw her. Antifreeze is full of sugar, and she could smell it. She started walking at me, but zig zagged back and forth across the road as she was walking. When she was about 30 yard in front of me the first cub popped out of the woods and I got scared. It was neat right up until I saw the cub. By the time the second cub appeared I needed clean underwear and she was only about 10' infront of my bike. What was I to do, charge at a sow with twins?!!?! I held as still as I could and asked my husband if he had his camera out yet. He assured me he was getting great pictures. "But Mike, she's gonna eat me?!?!?!?"

All I did was sit motionless while she explored the bike and her cubs rolled around at my feet. Because I sat so still I was commended over and over by the game wardens and that is why I was featured in a bear safety video. She sniffed first the headlight and front fender (where the antifreeze smell was coming from) then my boots, my knee and the left hand side case. When she went behind the bike I got really nervous as I couldn't see her any more and I knew my lunch was in a canvas bag on top.

When she put her feet up on the bike, Mike yelled at me.....Stabilize your bike, stabilize YOUR BIKE........START YOUR ENGINE!!!!!

He was then honking his horn and had started his own bike.......She stepped off to the side and we rode past. We pulled over about 1/2 a mile up the road as I was shaking so hard I couldn't control the bike. Just a wee bit of adrenaline!
