I thought pitbulls were more dog aggressive and wouldn't you want a people aggressive dog to protect you?. At any rate, hope you get that dog trained well. A well trained dog makes a better guard dog then one who just randomly gets aggressive and bites.

gsd's are great, i own one now, and have had them in the past. but absolutely the last dog someone should get if they dont plan on training them. these dogs need a purpose and are extremely family oriented. it would be torture to a gsd to just stick em in a yard.

an osterige
a mastif
some gargoyles to put on your roof to look scary
fire ant colonies
some blue jays with nests (divebombers)
tiger trap pits
security camera
a mean old grandma
a bee hive
etc

you have many choices for home protection

What i mean of getting this dog is not to let it be in the yard. When the wife go to work i will let it go outside just until the wife come home. It is gonna be a home dog and outside dog.

gsd's are awesome dogs then. look up a gsd rescue, great way to save a dog and a few $$$.
