Over heard some bad advice at petsmart

I'm still trying to figure out why you were at petsmart?

The big chain stores are only worth while for equipment when your LFS can't get it.

It's hard to beat the buying power of the big stores. So if your on a budget and trying to save a few bucks, petsmart and petco have good prices. As far as their live stock go it's a hit and miss for each store depending on the employees. Most are minimum wage college kids who could give a ****.

So in my opinion and something I practice regularly. If you can live without the extra few dollars you may save at the big chain store. Find one or two of your locally owned places you like and STICK with them. It helps keep them open. Also in many cases the owners appreciate it and will cut you deals on things. For instance. I sold some of my Krib fry to my LFS and have bought several larger ticket items there so when I needed a new tank that she didn't have she ordered one and gave it to me at her cost since she didn't have to worry about stocking it on the shelves somewhere. Saved me 46 bucks over petco price.

cause if you can get over the horrible advice given there, and you know what you're looking for, there are some good petsmarts out there. (as far as health of the fish go and such)

Although I like petsmart more than petco (other than they dont seem to ever have saltwater fish)...all of their tank size recommendations are terrible.

Of course you can put an ID shark in a 2.134 gallon tank. I have 9 in my 29 gallon tank and they are fine. Bought them like 8 minutes ago.
