That was big typo :nilly:

@ozz: I used to have an OHF before and I would say it's easy to maintain and my water was always in pristine condition. :D

Honestly the big thing to me is easier to maintain than a canister filter, I don't have to tear the whole thing down to change pads/media, I don't need to resyphon it and get the air out before start up like a canister. Also tons of room for media, and I don't have to worry about my small tanks having overflows, the noise of DIY overflows or building sumps for 75g's that house one fish. Oh and the outlet is tube style like a canister so unlike a HOB I can drop the water level in the tank and don't have to hear a huge amount of water noise. So in these and similar situations IMO they make sence.

They use them in japan alot it seems. At least on 3-4 and even 5 foot I think tanks.

Interested in something like this?

Over_the_Top_Filter.jpg

Can find it in Toronto. They are all hand-made (not by myself). The glass is at least 1/2 inch in thickness. The over-the-top-filter in this photo is 4 feet long.

Since it is made of glass, shipping cost might not be cheap for US hobbyists. Plus, it's a bit tough to ship something made of glass at this size. Best approach would be to allow profesional people to handle.

If you guys would like to get a "ball-park" price range, please feel free to PM me.

Thanks
