Overrated / Underrated Fish ?

Asian aros have to be seen in person to be appreciated. Keeping one will make you appreciate it even more. 
As for Pbass, used to hate them so much and never understood why people go crazy over it... I thought they were cichlids with elongated chins ! But I finally got one for myself and now i understand what the enthusiasm is all about.

And i don think any type of ray is overrated but i probably agree with some rays being underrated ..
I would only say that because the number of times I have seen them 'jump tank' and die.. They are awesome fish, don't get me wrong.. But it seems like they are very common in monster community tanks.
I am thinking the black rays are just over rated due to their market value. Even though they cost so much, Most people will only settle for Black rays and nothing else! I just think that it's funny how popular they are, as they should be, but their are alot of good unknown species..
I also think Archer Fish are under-rated! As well as most Brackish Fish!

Agreed with your on black rays.. i think its human nature to want whats in high demand... in my case though, ive been longing to have one since i traded my henleii away. Sometimes its not even the specie but the individual ray itself. The most active and fun ray ive had is a tiny humerosa... when i traded it away, it was trying to jump over the pail ...i regret trading her away..

=) lol I had to help the Africans out!! Yah I have one sa/ca I am not sure what it is b/c I bought it as a GT but I posted pics and they said its sorta like a JD but not exactly.. hmm. I still think Africans have the most beautiful colors in freshwater fish...only ones that can match the strong colors of saltwater fish.
everyone has their opinion though like me...which doesn't matter as long as you like ur fish and etc....I just thought it was weird how some people who used to own awesome huge tanks with SA/CA bruiser fish (jags, dovii etc) and they totally converted to pretty little african tanks and went crazy for africans.
If I ever get all my CA/SA I want in big tanks...I'd set up a an african tank for fun...but for now...I don't have the room....so gotta go with my favs...
but ur right...the overrated ones are the common ones everywhere..
overrated- oscars, asian aro's (beautiful but to me they arent worth the coin), red devils, parrot's (not true parrots), cory cats, piranha, clown loaches, atf, electric blue dempseys, columbian sharks
Underrated- many pim cats, peacock bass, green terrors, geos, many pike cichlid species, SA knifes

Over rated.....definatly piranhas....they dont do too much unless your not around...
Under rated....Acestrorhynchus Species (freshwater barracudas or Cachorro's) These fish are so neat to watch and are very attractive and colour ful..... HUGE teeth too;
