P. magdalenae doesn't eat

I was merly trying to show you that the term P. reticulatus has been used for a very long period of time.
Nothing more.
These are most certainly not P. orbignyi wich is rounder and has a short stubby tail.
Also, all the potamotrygon species have a row/s of spines going down their tail (depending on species/complex). The size of the spines can also vary greatly from species to species. Both P. orbignyi and P. Magdalenae/reticulatus have one row of spines going down their tail.
The dark tail part after the stinger often breaks off as the ray matures (from fighting etc). This seems to be the case in both the aquarium and in the wild (but less so in the wild).

Here you can see diffrent colour/pattern morphs of P. orbignyi identified by brazilian biologists (as part of a DNA paper).
The fish posted by stingray keeper are P. magdalenae.

Regarding the tail, he told that these are very young specimens, so I think it's unlikely that the end of their tail is broken (at leat for all the for specimen). My one has very long tail and the sting is like about the same distance from the base of tail like it's disc's diameter. Also the entire tail is somewhat thinner in general. Once I took a picture about the tail you will see what I mean. You are right, these has somewhat longer tail than orbigny-s, althouth their color pattern is very similar.

I know exactly what you mean. I have kept P. magdalenae 8 years ago myself, and I have also imported and sold them.
Its pretty common for them to arrive with broken tails. Going from fisherman to exporter and from exporter to importer is a rough ride.
Also, their pattern can vary greatly, which is to be expected within a species with a wide range.
He also cant know for sure where his fish were caught, and nor can you (unless you caught it yourself).
Most exporters get their fish from local fishermen, who are not very willing to tell where their catch is from (so not to give away their secret spots).

Ofcourse you can not be certain about the location, I did not mean it that way. It would be awesome to go there and catch some fish for yourself

Although I'm still not 100% convinced that stingray keeper's are the same as these on the video and my one.
In the mean time I ordered two females for him, I hope they can sex them properly

The ones in the video are exactly the same as mine. I'm not used to these types. I'm used to Motoro and Black Ray etc. Crazy how they can look so similar but be called something different. Cute as a button thou
As far as i can see theyre not eating yet. i import them direct. theyve got live ghost shrimp, live black worm, live earth worm chopped fresh, frozen bloodworm, frozen tubifex and more on hand but theyre not ready. I got them saturday. i give them another day or so.
Do they have sand? Mine only eat from the sand... worth trying. I have some in one side of the tank.
