pacu bit electric cord for pump

my 18inch pacu bit the cord for my pump electricuting himself (died) and shocking my 16 inch albino oscar and causing him to jump out of my tank and down the hill a 50ft drop to concrete he died and a 7 inch leporinus died of the shock a 6 inch red hook tinfoil barb a 5 inch convict cichlid aand 3 south american cichlids all died 3 seven inch pleco and 2 six inch spotty catfish
all died

these surrvived:
2 albino oscars 12 & 14 inch
a 16 inch tiger oscar
a 8 inch tiger oscar
a 15 inch peruvian oscar
a 6 inch cascadura


i added 4 fish from my brothers tank idk wat kind of fish they are but they look like some kind barb they have a pale orange complexion and school togethr they're about 5-6 inches each


any ideas on what i could add to the tank i want a few pets for my oscars ii was thinking about either a few pretty cichlids or a few koi but i want some suggestions
and i want to add some snakehead they are legal where i live and have always been here we call them mountain wabeen
 
very tragic .... so sad.. maybe if you send this out to enough people who have pacus they will take precaution by putting wire inside some kind of cylinder that he cannot bite through..
 
Wow that's rough, I meeting a pacu, and luckily i have hears about something similar and have since moved everything into my sump. Sorry for your loss
 
Sorry to hear. My pond with pacus has the power cord for the pump inside a PVC pipe. Heaters and everything else is in an overhead sump. They will chew anything and everything.

Yeah 3 of them devoured of my 9" common plecos when I had them. all that was left was the skull
 
Sorry to hear about your loss.
I'm glad I don't keep Pacus, I've heard some horror stories but none like this.
I'm glad some of your fish survived tho.
 
thanks everyone but i would still like some suggestions for tank mates to restock and i have a 400 gal i was considering a couple koi, or some colourful cichids and i will be adding two local snakehead called mountain wabeen where i reside

i wouldn't do koi because the can get like 2', and there coldwater. but maybe some vieja?
