what u have there in your picture is what we call wabeen what i have in the picture is a mountain wabeen but i will eventually get some good shots of a mountain wabeen so that someone can identify its true name
Yes, that is the problem with common versus scientific names.
Anyways, check out the link - the list might give you some species to research. Even though it doesn't list "Mountain Wabeen", there are several fish that they don't have a common name for.
yea i will definitely figure out the "wabeens" proper name but this is my stock
2 albino O's 10-12inch
2 tiger O's 16inch and 8inch
1 peruvian O 16inch
2 "mountain wabeen" (pic posted above) (soon to be addded)
1 cascadura
4 of a unusual schooling fish pale orange and looks similar to a barb
hoping to add 2-3 bigger fish vieja or peacockbass still deciding exactly what
but my 400gal tank has a 480 gallons an hour submersible "little giants" pump pumping into a bucket filled with "dacron" as the filter media (they use dacron to stuff pillows on boats) a few holes in the bucket to provide more aeration and thats my filter system im beggining to wonder if it is adequate never did any kind of water quality tests should i be worried or hould i be upgrading the filter system????
help.
i do not beleive that mountain wabeen is listed i looked through most of the fish listed in the link howevr can anyone identify it from the pic tht i posted
How you made it this many posts in with people not going crazy Over your stocking is beyond me.
Youve got 5 full or nearly full grown Oscars some 6 inch schooling fish and looking to add more and you have only roughly 1 time turnover.
I would at least double your current filter set up and probably still lose 2 or 3 of the oscars before adding anything else.
I would probably add a strong powerhead as well to help get all the crap oscars make to where your pump(s) are at
very tragic .... so sad.. maybe if you send this out to enough people who have pacus they will take precaution by putting wire inside some kind of cylinder that he cannot bite through..
