Grapes are OK now and then but not too regularly since the sugars can cause bacterial blooms in your tank. Pacus are ominivores that eat fruits, nuts, and plants in the wild. Some good choices for a regular diet inclusion are frozen peas, lima beans, corn, greenbeans, potato slices, diced apples/pears, etc. Infrequent offerings can include grapes, chunks of banana, pineapple, oranges, melons, etc.
That's the best posted response I've seen to that question.

very good information.. thanks.. my pacu's eat various types of squash..is this okay.. I slice thin, and microwave in some water.. to soften and they love it..

How big are these pacu ya'll have?

I rescued one 2 weeks ago. Was 2" , now almost 4". He's been living the good life on shimp pellets, algae wafers, turtle food (which is actually both) and a bit of cucumber.

Wish I could teach him to drink alcohol and smoke so I could stunt its growth. :D

Mine started off with very red bellies but they lost their color as they matured..but maybe some keep it because there are probably different species of pacu.. heres mine when they were wee ones about 7 years ago. post a picture of yours when you can.
