Pacu eats grapes!

Just wanted to say thanks to every one..my pacus are enjoying all their extras in their dinner now..started the peanuts, they love them and the steamed carrots {a few everynite} and grapes and string beans, and their usual pellet food, and algae wafers.. they are so happy.
 
Mine loves his fruits and veggies too.
 
One thing i did find out is the peanuts do not get digested when they go through the Pacus system..and then eventually it clogged up my filter so i am going to give them less nuts and if i do give it i will give in very small pieces..
 
If they don't get digested are they any benefit?

Just seems to me if they go in the same way they are coming out.. i can't amagine that they are getting anything out of it..

generally nuts arent suppose to be digested.

but germinate the seed in the process

when a pacu eat a fruit in the wild the flesh of it is digested but the seed passes right through, but it is active. eventually this seed sprouts to become a tree.

but a roasted peanut has no chance of survival :grinno:

the process of nature.. just like all the birds and deer spread all kinds of vegetation ...but is there any nutritional benefit for the pacu eating a roasted peanut.. i myself have decided to give them protein by way of pellet..and let them enjoy all the blanched veggies.. because the peanuts were clogging the filter.. not much yet but i could see it could become a problem if i continued..what a bummer too, because the parrot is nearby and i give her the nuts and it was easy to share them with the pacu too. thanks
 
I don't want a peanut plant in my tank...LOL
