get a pond. i think that pacus should only be kept in public aquarias or ponds. when fully grown of course.

I'm keeping six 12" pacu in a 450 pool. It's too small for them.
Wow. I'm impressed! :)

By the way, those pictures that were posted above are of Black Pacus (generally identified as Colossoma macropomum). They are known to grow much larger than the Red-Belly Pacu (Piaractus brachypomus). Still, RBPs will grow to two feet or more in length.

yah the black P do get a lot bigger. but i think everyone agrees here that with RPB's diet and size they definitely need more than a 55. if you want a happy healthy, and active fish provide 'em a bigger tank. and telll your expert to go join MFK :grinyes: will set him straight. :D
here's memo (my RPB) 125 gal

Wow! he's a real beauty! What do you feed him?

We feed our Pacu Koi pellets and algae wafers. We've tried feeding them fresh veggies, but usually they completely ignore them.

Here's a pic of one of our Pacu

The pic was taken a month ago, so he's a lot bigger now.
