Many people often talk badly about pacus, though ive got to ask; why do you guys dislike pacus so much?

I actually like the way they look and move but they get so big so fast and are really hard on a planted tank. If I had the room for them I would use the space one a more interesting fish (to me that is) maybe an African aro. The main reason they get bad mouth is that so many are sold to people who did not do the research so you end up with a dirty 30g tank holding a miserable 12" pacu. If you have the space for a 3' fish weighing more than 20-40 pounds that eats all your plants then go for it, just don't complain when it gets that big and tears up you aquascaping.
Your right. Ive also heard people throwing around pacus are ugly so many times on every forum ive visited, i dont see how this is so. They are very nice looking fish in my opinion.

I totally agree with Throttle and guppy....they get way too big for most tanks and imo shouldn't be as easy to come by as they are. I think they should be a special order kind of thing.
