Painted Bottom

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Anyone? Id like to pick this stuff up tomorrow if anybody can confirm that it is the krylon stuff i need.

when you look in side the tank you can still see the silicon along the edges, its minor but you can notice it. im thinking of applying a thin layer of silicon and put sand on top of it so it wont wash away after it dries. it will only be on the seams and the rest will be painted sand texture underneath. any thoughts?

I can't confirm that but I do think that is what was used. I think even if you used a different brand name you will be fine so long as it's sand textured.

I actually found another site somewhere that said it was either that, or a rustolium paint that they used. They also said to consider getting a similar colored enamel spray paint for the last layer or two to ensure no light gets through. I'm going to be getting my 125 on saturday and ill be using this stuff, so ill post some before and after pics of it probably sunday.

I don't know. This may work, but I'd try it on a small tank to test first. I dont really mind the silicon too much.

Looks like a good choice to me! I'm seriously considering using this for my tank.

I ended up buying a few cans of Rustoleum American Accents Stone Spray paint. I was the only stuff i liked that my Home Depot had. Also a little darker than the stuff i posted before. I tested it on a piece of glass i had from an old broken tank lid, and it looks fantastic. It isn't cheap though, like 9 bucks a can. I also got some similar colored enamel spray paint to help keep light from going through lighter spots. I really like this and i think its going to look great. I don't know why more people haven't used this stuff.
