I think I'm going to give plastidip a shot on my tank. Has anyone else done this?

Yeah I use plasti dip I have done 3 tanks with it now. It works well, is easy to peel off and looks nice this tank was done with plasti dip

oh man tint looks effin awesome !!!!!! but I haven't done it nor do I know how to lmao.... might not be so easy to do with how my tank is right now either .... I stick to painting this tank and if I move or get another larger tank I will likely look into tinting it ...

going to get some tremclad rust paint flat black tomorrow and hopefully get it done when im off for xmas

how much paint do I really need to get coverage on a 72x24 panel of glass ? I can buy the acrylic water based paint at the dollar store, same stuff used in this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqWAl5TpzY0

That's all you need. I've been using craft type water based acrylic paint (purchased at local Michael's store) since forever. Get the indoor/outdoor paint. If you really want to get fancy, for added protection you can seal your final coat, but it's not required. The guy in the vid gave good directions & advice. I would guesstimate that you will need 750 ml, maybe more depending on how well it covers.

what about water splashes ? since it is a water based paint will splashed water make it run or anything ? how many tubes would I need to cover 72x24 ?

Not an issue, unless you keep it submerged. lol As I said, you can also seal the final coat for added protection if you really feel the need which will resolve any/all water issues, and all but very hard/deep scratches. But generally that should not be an issue, and it makes it a lot more difficult to remove if you ever change your mind on the color.

Ah sweet !! :). Local dollastore has it for dollar per tube thinking 3 tubes be plenty as in the video it says he guess's one tube - 12 sq/ft so a 72x24 panel that's 2 tubes if my math is right lol 3 for a bit of extra or touch ups or if I need a extra coat...

So matte black or flat black is best eh ? Maybe a semi gloss if they have it

Matte, semi gloss, gloss, becomes personal preference really.

I'll have to take pics of before and after and post them once I get it done if I've got some time before and after xmas here when I'm off :)
