Right now I just have a Canon P&S (got it as a gift) which takes decent pics but only w/ the flash on, so I am looking at getting a new camera.

I have been looking at the Panasonic DMC-FZ50:

I am looking for a good camera but I cant afford nor do I really want to pay for DSLR and multipul lenses.

So I am wondering if there is any feed back for this camera? I can get it new for $650.

Don't know much about the Panasonics, but I do know that you can get a great Cannon or Nikon entry-level DSLR for the same money or less.

Ya but this camera has:

10.1-megapixel high resolution CCD
LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT 12x optical zoom (35-420mm equiv.)
Manual Zoom & Focus w/ advanced image stabilization.

plus a hole bunch of other stuff but those are the main 3 I am interested in this camera, so I dont need to buy a $300-$500 lense.

The camera gets good reviews in general, but this is the perfect example of where megapixels are used as a selling feature and do not translate into better pictures. Read page 19 in the dp review Taz posted and you'll see what I mean.

xti and d60 come with a 18-55 lens for that price. then save for the one lens you want.

Thanks, actually I think I will go with the D60.

Firstly the 10.1 mega pixels mean nothing in the real world. I would go for a a 4 mega pixel DSLR over that camera and to take things further I would stay away from CCD sensors(my personal preferance). Even the basic Canon/Nikon lens are better then the lens on that camera.

Unless you want a light camera that will take a multitude of pics in many different situations at the sacrafice of image quality, I would say go the DSLR.

What other sensors are out there? Or do you shoot with film?
