  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I was fishing in the same spot and caught a bigger one on hook and line, they are not sac perch but something even more rare to the area, warmouth. i might get somesacv perch out of this spot sooner or later since they are supposed to be in there, but i am pretty sure that the fry are warmouth. the one i caught was about 3" and is now in my tank.

Absolutly BEAUTIFUL little fish!!! Be careful, I hear that they truly can live up to their name!!! So how'd he doing? Any pics of him in the tank with the others?

MAN AWESOME FISH!!!!

he is doing okay, getting chased a little, but not much, he is the smallest fish in the tank.

I'm guessing once he's a little more comfy, HE'S going to be the one doing the chasing. Warmouths can be MEAN little buggers. You could always try to break up their lines of sight with some vertically positioned pieces of submerged wood creating a root like structure effect of a pond. At any rate, I can't wait to see pics of all of them together. Warmouths are AWESOME North American natives!

First pic looks like a warmouth. We have about 4 of them at 7" in with gars, bullheads, shiners, and other centrarchids. They are good fish.

from what i heard they are just as agressive as green sunnies and he is the smalllest fish in the tank so it should not be to bad. I have a 60 that is almost ready for fish so i'll put up pics in a couple days, i have my pnfish split up between 2 tens and a 20 right now. BTW, yesterday the warmouth ate his first mealworm.

Good job. I'm glad to hear he's eating. Once you've got that taken care of, the rest is easy. You know most everyone here will reccomend that you "get a bigger tank", but a 60 is good for the time being. I think with GOOD filtration, and lots of hiding places, you'll be fine for quite a while. Seriously though, a really good filtration system is the #1 thing you'll not want to skimp on. I can't wait to see pics. Unfortunately, we don't have Warmouth here in Northern Nevada, so I'm definately jealous. Take care.

Ben.

were not supposed to have them here either, i didn't know we had them untuil i dug through 15 year old dfg arcvhives and found they were released into the creek system connected to the lake 70 years ago and a few were also released in the delta, but if you do a seach online it is very difficult to find out there are warmouth around here.
