Papas got a brand new bag

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If I don’t feed for a day then feed late in the evening in the feeding frenzy they all start doing back flips and cartwheels- coming up out of the water grabbing pellets on there way out and on the way back in to the water. Lots of fun watching them chase each other around that 9’ vat.

They aren’t as thick here on the coast as they are up at my parents house in the mountains- but we’ve got them. I grab them and the Japanese beetles that I see for my Oscar. These fish get tons of that stuff and lately they’ve been gorging on catapillars that fall in from the pecan tree above

Growing them out in that big pool is awesome just sucks we can see a clear view

I’ll cast net them out one evening at feeding time, take some pictures, and we can get a look at where they are/ how far they’ve come. The colors are killer. Defintely a lot more white on a couple of the peeled fish now and one is a deep orange / white. The gold one and the black one haven’t peeled and I really want to see if the black One still is that black.

these fish will periodically go 2-3 days at a time where they just ignore feeding time becuase of how much larvae / bugs they’re getting when there’s a big hatch going. Plus the gambusias that are stocked in there

Have any of the males started showing the nuchal hump?
midas are awesome cichlids I’m yet to have kept one yet but I will have too

Not that I can tell- and I e been going through the video I took looking frame by frame. I don’t think they are humping up as fast becuase they are in a pretty big environment compared to a 6 foot aquarium which equals less comeotettiin between males.
