Yes, welcome to the dark side...Muah ha ha ha!!! Great pick up Justin you are gonna love having a monster pair like that and its very awesome that they have a 300 to themselves.... so what tank do you plan on giving them in the future??? 600+ Ill be looking forward to updates on these two

Thanks Jason! We are likely moving next month so if I do we will lump the cost of the new tank in with the house and can get pretty much what ever we want. If I stay at this place, the best I can do until next June will be a 8'x4' 480 gallon. Hopefully we don't stay here, worst case it would only be another year (lease is June to June). Realistically what kind of growth rate should I expect past the 14" mark he is already at?

That's cool bro, with him in a 300 on a normal feeding you can expect prolly 6-8" this year and it will slow down a lol more next year. He'll be pushing 18-20" in no time so don't be in a hurry lol and really that 300 will be good for at least another year or so if need be

Yeah we want to stay in the same school district for the boys. We were supposed to move to Seattle for my job but last month that got pulled off the table. We will be buying a house in the Vancouver/Battleground area.

I'll drop you a link to the build thread when I start it (you know it will be big with a 3D background at a minimum). Although since it is cichlid specific I might throw it up here if you guys want me to.. A 300 gallon is a dang good holding tank, better than most provide, so I am not ashamed of the time spent in between. Hopefully the festae grow out enough in the time being to be able to swap tanks then. It should be good timing between the two for things to hopefully work out well.

Working on it. I redid the tank and it's 80% where I want it. Having dovii is really nice, it makes the tankmate selection part, pretty simple
