WOW Gratz man!

So youre planning on having a Dovii colony? That would be great

No colony would ever happen. Just ma and pa. Two fish in a big tank but totally worth it if you have the man-crush I've had on this species over the years. One look at Mel's monster male and you'll see what I mean. Not a rare species but commends respect it it's own right. To answer your question a few posts up, adults size is arguable but a healthy male can hit 30"+ if well cared for over the years. (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong guys)

Did you ever manage to see Mel's pair in person? Nice pair!

Nope, I missed the club meet. I was watching all of the pics as well as Mel's recent vids and deceided one day I would pull the trigger.. Thanks Jamie.

The largest male I have seen in person was around 24" long and thick.....around 3"-4". IMO they need at least a 3' wide tank for life even though they take many years to fill such a large tank. Mel's is like 8 yrs old and fills a 600 gal from what I have seen.

I never imagined you keeping dovii, Justin. Way to go.

They look great. All the best.

How's that custom divider project coming along?

Thanks! It's not, I failed hard lol.. I am going the wood hiding place route to try that first. So far so good. I have some really large pices of wood that have been hollowed out for her to hide but too big for him.

I for some reason thought Mel's where in a 1,000 gallon? I won't be able to come close to a 1k gallon tank but an 8'x4' is not out of the question and like you said, it will last for years.

Pics of the eggs from a few minutes ago. I edited the pic to make it bright since there is no light on a dark background. Note the dark eggs (top mid section of the pic) I know, I know, this isn't hard to get dovii spawning at all but I am excited.. My first dovii spawn :D woot!

Mom checking on her wigglers.. I hate it when fish spawn by the filter intakes.. :irked: I have a 300 gallon running on nothing but sponges, FX5's are just paperweights right now.
