Parasite, disease or something else?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I just remember there was one more thing I changed on Monday. I reposition all my Powerbeats and their direction so the water flow is definitely different and I am sure the fish need to adjust to that. I wonder if that can stress them can cause the flashing.
I don’t think water flow would cause it.
In nature fish are subject to all manner of water Current

Then I don’t know what could be the issue. The flashing looks to be getting worst. Still no symptoms other than flashing.

Water looks good, temperature look good. I dosed Prazipro 3 rounds so don’t think it’s Fluke, no white spot so might not be ich.

Thanks

Everyone's interpretation of fish flashing can be different so any chance you can post a clear video of what your fish are doing?

I think you would need to upload a video to youtube or similar and then link in your post so we can view it. Sorry as I've never done it before.

Alright, this might take some time as I have never post video to YouTube before. Have to figure out how to do it.

Strangely the flashing has gone down a lot today. Taking the video while looking at the tank entire 40 minutes, only two fish flash a little. The last two days was like half the fish flash every 10 minutes.

Those fish know you are ready to video them so they just stopped their behavior.

Maybe you need to start recording any changes you make such as water change, equipment change, decor change, etc. to see if their behavior changes.

I do see more activity on all of my fish after a water change but I don't attribute that to being a problem.

Have you tested your tap water for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH, KH and GH? The reason I ask is that sometimes the last 3 parameters I listed might be different immediately out of the tap and then after a 24 hour period of degassing.

I have not test the ph, kh and Gh for a while since I ran out of the liquid. I will have to order some more. Maybe that is what it is. Just that I do 50% WC twice per week and have to see this behavior after any of the previous WC. A little flash within 30 minutes after the WC but never one or two days after the WC.

Maybe they have to get use to the new plants and finally starting to get used to them.

I just did another WC and dose the levamisole. Will do another WC in 48 hrs to see how things will be.

Thanks

Flashing is not a response to rearranging the tank or adding fake plants.
Not directly anyway.
It is a physical response to something that is irritating to their tissues.
If I were you I would focus on your source water.
It maybe the hardness and or Ph, it could be something your municipality has changed in the water.
The fact that they are flashing less is either a result of the fish adapting to the new hardness/Ph or whatever was in your source water the day you did the first water change and noticed the fish being irritated.
If the source is back to normal the water changes will be diluting the cause.
I suggest that you acquire new Ph and hardness tests.
If you test even occasionally you will have a base line for what your water is normally.
If this happens again you will be able to test the tank and source the see if anything has changed.
That would rule out at least those two parameters.
