Parasite in Leo/hen tank Help Quick!!!

I'd guess it came in with the live blackworms. They've often got all sorts of stuff mixed in with them. Looks almost like a flatworm, but probably just a type of aquatic annelid (segmented worm).

There is alot of odd things that come in with the black worms..........

i wouldnt worry to much like everyone said it probably came with the blackworms
u could dose with anchors away and that will kill any remaining its ray safe

anchors away only kills parasites with chitineous exoskeletons Like anchor worm and fish lice etc the active ingredient is dimilin and it inhibits the parasites from forming a shell once they shed molt etc.

Prazi is the ish yo. Itll kill anything like that deader then a door nail and its really really safe. I wouldnt panic, should be fine.

checked on the leos this morn.... they were swimmin all over the place... breathing out of both sides... they were very excited to get food, but didnt eat any it was pretty weird..

hopefully they r on their way to recovery...

Did the worm come from inside the ray? It does look like a nasty parasite, good luck!

Inject the Prazi into worms...... Lots cheaper than dosing your tank with 4X rec. dosage...... I'm guessing it's a lot more effective too.

I was just thinking would that prazi be effective if you have that drip system on your 450. I think the directions on prazipro is that you have to let it sit in the tank for a week without a waterchange........ I hope your rays get better quick!!!!!!

It looks like a Cestodes or near-related species. These cousins to intestinal tapeworms can be introduced by live foods. Any of the above prazi meds should eradicate the worms from the system. I've had success eliminating soft-bodied polychetes with the use of Praziquantel. Good luck.

I have seen something fairly similar in my blackworms... I threw it away, but could something like that survive in a blackworm supply? I mean, is that common?

I'de just leave the drip running and inject the worms.... Feed medicated worms for a week or so..... Seemed to have worked on my WC and I never treated my whole pond.
